The Suebi, also called Suevi, were Germanic people who lived in modern day Galicia which is in Northwest Spain, and had a large kingdom there. They also had territory in modern day Portugal and in other parts of Spain (besides Galicia). Like the Visigoths, they were pagans, but converted to Arianism. Not much is known of the Suebian language, other than, it was possibly related to the Elbe Germanic languages. Many Suebi men braided their hair in a style called the "Suebian knot".
